Assembly Operative – Mechanical/Electrical Assembly Technician

About the role

We are seeking an Assembly Operative to join a leading manufacturing client in Basingstoke. The position starts on a temporary 12‑week contract with the intention of becoming permanent. You will work on small‑scale mechanical and electrical components, ensuring high‑quality assembly, service and repair.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electrical components, including pneumatics and hydraulics, following drawings and work instructions.
• Perform self‑inspection, testing and final quality inspection of finished goods.
• Pick parts and kits required for each task.
• Determine service levels and carry out scheduled maintenance.
• Identify repair needs and execute repairs according to return requests.
• Source spare parts for repair technicians and create return, stock, service or scrap requests.
• Liaise with New Product Development (NPD) on assembly, service and repair requirements for new products.

Required profile

• Previous experience in mechanical or electrical assembly.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical drawings.
• Proficiency with manual hand tools.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage own workflow.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £13.93
• 39‑hour work week (Mon‑Thu 07:30‑16:30, Fri 07:30‑12:30)
