Assessor of Electrical Installation

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assessor of Electrical Installation to join Middlesbrough College. The role involves supporting learners through their apprenticeship journey, ensuring they meet standards and achieve qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, conduct and oversee induction and initial assessments to set realistic learning priorities and develop individual learning plans in partnership with employers.
• Maintain a caseload of learners, guiding them to complete apprenticeship standards and prepare for End Point Assessments.
• Develop and nurture relationships with external partners, local employers and agencies to recruit and retain learners.
• Provide advice and guidance to learners and employers, promoting timely achievement of SMART objectives.
• Support delivery of NVQ and other full‑cost courses where required.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of learning programmes, lesson plans and assessment activities.
• Carry out health and safety risk assessments for employers and ensure compliance.
• Meet recruitment, retention and achievement targets aligned with the college’s corporate strategy.

Required profile

• Proven experience assessing electrical installation learners within an apprenticeship or vocational training setting.
• Strong understanding of apprenticeship standards, 20% off‑the‑job training requirements and End Point Assessment processes.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with employers, partners and learners.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive learning environment.
