Asset Manager – Housing

About the role

The forward‑thinking London local authority is seeking an experienced Asset Manager to lead its Housing Directorate. You will shape and deliver the council’s asset management strategy across a diverse housing portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the asset management function, overseeing analysts and surveyors.
• Define and execute the asset management strategy in line with organisational priorities and resident needs.
• Oversee stock condition surveys and maintain up‑to‑date property data.
• Manage portfolio activities including acquisitions, disposals and development schemes.
• Optimise asset data systems to support investment decisions.
• Develop and supervise the housing capital investment programme.
• Ensure compliance with Decent Homes standards and statutory reporting.
• Engage with residents, stakeholders and partners to inform service improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in asset management within social housing or the public sector.
• Strong track record of leading teams and delivering complex programmes.
• Experience managing asset data, stock condition information and investment planning.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• PRINCE2 (or similar project‑management methodology).
• Asset management systems and data handling.
