Assistant Accountant – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

The company, an international manufacturing and consumer products business, is seeking an Assistant Accountant on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will support day‑to‑day finance operations and gain exposure to month‑end reporting, analysis and business‑wide finance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bank, petty cash and payment platform reconciliations.
• Produce aged creditor and customer balance reports.
• Support supplier account management and resolve statements queries.
• Run weekly payment cycles and maintain payment controls.
• Assist with credit control and customer account reporting.
• Manage employee expense processes in line with company policy.
• Support month‑end close activities, including ledger maintenance and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Assist with audit preparation and related documentation.
• Maintain sales and purchase ledgers to reporting deadlines.
• Contribute to monthly financial reports, budgeting and forecasting.
• Help develop reporting tools and enhance finance systems.
• Document and improve finance policies and provide training to colleagues.

What we offer
