Assistant Accountant – Fundraising (Hybrid, Woking)

About the role
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join a fast‑growing fundraising organisation. The role is hybrid, with two days a week in the Woking office, and offers a hands‑on, operational finance experience across payroll, VAT, bookkeeping and month‑end processes.
Key responsibilities
- Process payroll for multiple entities and submit RTI and pension uploads.
- Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance.
- Reconcile bank accounts and maintain accurate records in Xero.
- Review, approve and process employee expenses and supplier invoices.
- Support month‑end close activities, including journal entries and reporting.
- Assist with bookkeeping across several entities and provide operational finance support to the wider business.
- Identify and drive improvements to finance processes.
Required profile
- Strong background in bookkeeping or transactional finance.
- Practical experience managing VAT, payroll and day‑to‑day finance tasks.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and comfortable working in a collaborative team.
