Assistant Accountant

About the role

This is a hands‑on Assistant Accountant position within a well‑established, growing business in the Barnsley area. You will receive full training and support while gaining experience across transactional finance and month‑end processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the purchase ledger
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Support accruals and pre‑payments
• Handle rebates and inter‑company transactions
• Assist with import‑related accounting
• Reconcile company credit cards
• Support the production of management accounts

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accounts role (Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant level)
• Strong understanding of purchase ledger and reconciliations
• Experience using Sage and Excel
• Confidence with Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
• Proactive, organised approach with a willingness to learn
