Assistant Accountant

About the role
This is a hands‑on Assistant Accountant position within a well‑established, growing business in the Barnsley area. You will receive full training and support while gaining experience across transactional finance and month‑end processes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the purchase ledger
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Support accruals and pre‑payments
- Handle rebates and inter‑company transactions
- Assist with import‑related accounting
- Reconcile company credit cards
- Support the production of management accounts
Required profile
- Previous experience in an accounts role (Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant level)
- Strong understanding of purchase ledger and reconciliations
- Experience using Sage and Excel
- Confidence with Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP
- Proactive, organised approach with a willingness to learn
