Assistant Accountant – Part‑Qualified (Hybrid)

About the role

Our client is a growing specialist insurance and reinsurance business located in the City of London. They are seeking a part‑qualified accountant to join the finance team in a hybrid role, offering exposure to transactional accounting, month‑end processes and business partnering.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable, including invoice handling, supplier statement reconciliations and payment runs.
• Manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection and accurate allocation of receipts.
• Reconcile multiple bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Allocate and reconcile insurance and reinsurance premiums across insurers, brokers and tax authorities.
• Support month‑end activities such as journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts, P&L reporting and variance analysis.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Provide financial insight and business‑partnering support to operational stakeholders.
• Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations.
• Utilise Xero daily to maintain accurate financial records.
• Identify and contribute to process improvements and finance transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• Studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA (or equivalent qualification).
• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or Accountant role.
• Experience in the insurance or reinsurance sector is desirable.

Required skills

• Xero accounting software.
