Assistant Accountant – £32,000 + study support

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our growing finance team in Liverpool. This permanent, hybrid position offers a supportive environment for candidates studying towards professional qualifications, with a focus on hands‑on learning and career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing management accounts, including profit & loss, balance‑sheet reconciliations and cash‑flow statements.
• Support monthly forecasting and VAT return preparation.
• Help with monthly payroll processing and journal posting.
• Handle accruals and pre‑payments as part of month‑end activities.
• Provide ad‑hoc reports and analysis to wider finance teams.

Required profile

• Experience in a fast‑paced business with month‑end exposure (accruals and pre‑payments).
• Ideally AAT qualified or studying AAT/CIMA/ACCA.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and strong attention to detail.
• Well‑organised with good prioritisation skills.

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
