Assistant Accountant – Temporary (6 months)

About the role

A growing real estate business in Preston is looking for an enthusiastic and detail‑oriented Assistant Accountant on a six‑month temporary contract. This role offers a chance for an ambitious finance professional to develop accounting experience within a supportive, fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts.
• Perform bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Process purchase and sales ledger transactions.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing procedures.
• Monitor cash flow and produce required financial reports.
• Handle accruals, pre‑payments and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with VAT returns and other statutory reporting.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve queries.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role.
• Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and month‑end processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
• Organisational ability and capacity to meet deadlines.

What we offer

• Salary £30,000‑£33,000 per year, dependent on experience.
