Assistant Accountant (Watford)

About the role

Our client, a reputable accountancy practice in Watford, is looking for a permanent Assistant Accountant to join their friendly team. The role offers the chance to develop your career in a dynamic, client‑focused environment while working on a variety of accounting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare annual financial statements and month‑end accounts.
• Create budgets and forecasts in Xero to support client planning.
• Liaise directly with clients to ensure data accuracy and resolve queries.
• Assist with VAT returns, payroll processing and other statutory filings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounts preparation within an accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Based within commuting distance to Watford for an office‑based role.
