Assistant Branch Manager – Menswear Retail

About the role

The Assistant Branch Manager will support day‑to‑day store operations and lead a medium‑sized team in a Birmingham menswear shop. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, meeting sales targets, and maintaining visual and cost standards.

Key responsibilities

• Motivate, coach and develop store staff to exceed KPIs and sales goals.
• Identify and maximise sales opportunities through promotions, outfit building, up‑selling and corporate events.
• Ensure product knowledge, store ranges and promotions are up‑to‑date across the team.
• Manage controllable costs, budgets and stock levels efficiently.
• Utilise commercial reports, visual‑merchandising directives and training tools to maintain store standards.
• Drive a culture of exceptional customer service and monitor compliance with company policies.
• Support reporting and analysis of trading, conversion and cost data.
• Champion colleague engagement and recognise outstanding performance.

Required profile

• Experience in a retail or customer‑facing role, preferably with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities to manage daily operations.
• Proven track record of motivating teams to achieve sales targets.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and staff.
• Understanding of stock management and visual‑merchandising principles.
• Proactive approach to compliance with policies and health‑and‑safety guidelines.
