Assistant Building Surveyor / Architectural Technician

About the role

Canford School is looking for an ambitious graduate to join its Estates team as an Assistant Building Surveyor / Architectural Technician. You will work across historic and modern school buildings, supporting design, surveying and project delivery while developing the skills needed for Chartered status.

Key responsibilities

• Produce existing and proposed CAD drawings, plans and design schemes.
• Assist with building surveys, inspections and condition reports.
• Run refurbishment, planned maintenance projects and minor works.
• Liaise with contractors, internal labour teams and stakeholders.
• Prepare planning and building‑regulations applications.
• Maintain accurate estate drawings and project records.

Required profile

• A degree in Building Surveying or an Architectural Technician qualification.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and high IT proficiency.
• Proactive, organised and excellent communication abilities.
• Willingness to learn within a supportive professional environment.
• Previous surveying experience or knowledge of historic buildings is advantageous but not essential.
