Assistant Coach – Youth Development Phase (U15‑U16)

About the role
Derby County Academy is looking for a Youth Development Phase Assistant Coach to support the U15‑U16 age groups. You will work alongside the Lead U16 Coach, delivering training sessions, match preparation and match‑day leadership while contributing to the Academy’s long‑term development strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Lead U16 Coach in planning and delivering training sessions and match‑day activities.
- Implement the Club’s Game Craft Model in an age‑appropriate manner.
- Co‑create and review Individual Development Plans (IDPs) with the multidisciplinary team.
- Lead the U15 match‑day programme, including team organisation, match delivery and post‑match analysis.
- Facilitate the transition of players between U15 and U16, ensuring consistency in playing philosophy.
- Maintain communication with MDT staff, monitor player progress and report using platforms such as Kitman Labs.
- Participate in MDT meetings, player audits and team selection discussions.
- Support operational tasks related to sessions, match days and equipment.
Required profile
- Passion for youth football development and ability to work within a high‑performance environment.
- Commitment to player health, safety and safeguarding policies.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with players, parents and Academy staff.
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and the Club’s coaching competency framework.
Required skills
- Experience using player monitoring platforms (e.g., Kitman Labs).
