Assistant Director, Finance

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Director of Finance to join a leading social housing organisation. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will oversee a team of four accountants and drive the group’s financial strategy, ensuring robust statutory accounting, reporting and treasury management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead statutory accounting and group financial reporting.
• Develop and manage budgeting, financial planning and alignment with the corporate business plan.
• Oversee Treasury management, policy and compliance.
• Manage external audit processes and ensure timely VAT compliance.
• Provide finance business partnering across the organisation.
• Guide and develop a team of accountants, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA or CIPFA) with experience in the social housing sector.
• Proven leadership ability with a results‑oriented mindset.
• Willingness to work remotely and attend HQ meetings twice a month.
