Assistant Director – Integrated Adult Social Care (North & East Devon)

About the role

The Assistant Director will join Devon County Council’s Adult Social Care senior leadership team, providing strategic and operational direction for integrated adult social care services across North and East Devon. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Integrated Adult Social Care, you will help shape high‑quality services that improve outcomes for local people.

Key responsibilities

• Lead large‑scale adult social care operations, overseeing a workforce of around 500 staff.
• Drive performance, transformation and innovation while meeting statutory responsibilities.
• Represent Devon within the Integrated Care System, building partnerships with NHS, providers and community stakeholders.
• Oversee care management, safeguarding, support arrangements and hospital discharge functions.
• Manage financial stewardship, governance and high‑risk, high‑cost services.

Required profile

• Relevant degree and/or professional qualification.
• Extensive experience in senior leadership within adult social care or related public sector services.
• Proven ability to lead large, complex teams and deliver transformational change.
• Strong understanding of integrated care systems and partnership working.
