Assistant Director of People

About the role

Chime Housing is seeking an Assistant Director of People to lead all HR and People functions across the organisation. Reporting to the Chief People & Governance Officer, you will join the Leadership Team and help shape the future workforce experience for a housing association with over 13,500 homes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the full HR service portfolio, including business partnering, talent management, organisational development and reward management.
• Lead a team of 10 HR professionals, integrating two legacy teams into a harmonised service model.
• Drive performance management, employee relations and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation.
• Develop and communicate a competitive, benchmarked reward offer in partnership with the Colleague Forum.
• Support corporate diversity and inclusion goals and champion equality across all business areas.
• Collect and analyse HR service feedback and performance indicators, reporting to senior stakeholders and taking corrective action as needed.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience, preferably within a large, multi‑site organisation.
• Ability to influence corporate decision‑making and contribute to policy formulation.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with employee forums and senior executives.
• Commitment to fostering a culture of wellbeing, support and continuous development.

• Competitive salary between £80,000 and £90,000 per year.
