Assistant Garment Technologist – Premium Womenswear

About the role

We are seeking a passionate and detail‑oriented Assistant Garment Technologist to join a growing premium womenswear brand. Working hybrid with one day remote each week, you will support the Garment Technologists throughout the product development cycle, ensuring fit, quality and performance standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Support Garment Technologists from initial samples through to production.
• Prepare samples for fit sessions, take accurate notes and update fit comments.
• Measure and assess garments against technical specifications and size charts.
• Maintain accurate technical files, specifications and product records.
• Liaise with Design, Buying and Production teams to ensure clear communication.
• Review sample quality, construction and workmanship, escalating concerns when needed.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding fit, construction and quality feedback.
• Assist with garment testing, care‑label approvals and compliance documentation.
• Track samples and approvals to meet critical‑path deadlines.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in fit consistency, product quality and technical standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Junior Garment Tech or Technical Assistant role within womenswear.
• A qualification in Clothing Technology, Fashion or a related discipline is desirable.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics and fit.
• Confidence measuring garments and interpreting technical specifications.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships across teams and with suppliers.
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Positive, collaborative attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Genuine enthusiasm for premium fashion.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience using PLM or other product‑management systems (advantage).
