Assistant Headteacher / SENCO – SEND School

About the role

The school is a specialist SEND institution in Warwickshire seeking an experienced SENCO to step into an Assistant Headteacher position. You will join the senior leadership team to shape strategic direction and improve outcomes for pupils with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in school‑wide strategic leadership.
• Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews and personalised learning plans.
• Guide staff in implementing SEND strategies, interventions and best practice.
• Monitor pupil progress and ensure effective support mechanisms are in place.
• Collaborate with families, external agencies and therapists to coordinate provision.
• Contribute to teaching, learning, behaviour and safeguarding initiatives.
• Drive whole‑school improvement projects.

Required profile

• Qualified SENCO with proven experience in a SEND setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work at senior leadership level.
• Strong understanding of EHCP legislation and personalised learning.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND statutory frameworks.
• Experience coordinating multi‑agency support for pupils.
