Assistant IT Manager – Multi‑Academy School Group

About the role

We are partnering with a growing multi‑academy school group to find an Assistant IT Manager who will support the delivery of reliable, secure and innovative technology across several campuses. Working closely with the IT Manager, you will help ensure that staff and students have access to high‑quality IT services that enhance teaching, learning and business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the IT Manager in overseeing day‑to‑day ICT operations across multiple school sites.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of on‑site IT Technicians.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support when required.
• Plan, implement and maintain network and server infrastructure.
• Maintain system security, reliability and compliance with relevant standards.
• Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server and endpoint management.
• Monitor network performance, resolve infrastructure issues and manage hardware procurement and asset tracking.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, backup and business continuity planning.
• Collaborate with school leadership to identify and deliver technology improvements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an IT support or infrastructure role, preferably within education.
• Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring IT staff.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads across several sites.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel between schools.
