Assistant Lawyer (L&CL Regions)

About the role

Keoghs LLP is looking for an Assistant Lawyer to join its Property Risks and Coverage Team. The role offers hybrid working with at least one day per week in the office and the chance to work on high‑value property damage and insurance coverage claims across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an independent caseload from inception to resolution.
• Assist senior lead lawyers on large, complex claims, reviewing documents and drafting bespoke coverage advice.
• Support all stages of litigation, including analysis of coverage, liability, quantum and strategy.
• Conduct investigations, prepare instructions for counsel and experts, and perform legal research and document searches.
• Attend client meetings, strategy sessions and conferences, taking notes and following up on actions.
• Ensure compliance with SRA standards and regulations.
• Draft applications, court proceedings and engage in settlement negotiations, round‑table discussions and alternative dispute resolution for independently managed cases.

Required profile

• Legal qualification: Solicitor or FILEX.
• Previous experience handling defendant property insurance claims.
• Strong understanding of insurance coverage disputes, legal liability, causation, breach of contract and negligence.
