Assistant Lawyer – Property Risks & Coverage

About the role

Keoghs LLP is looking for an Assistant Lawyer to join its Property Risks and Coverage team. Working on large, complex property damage and insurance coverage claims, you will manage your own caseload while supporting senior lawyers on high‑value matters.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage cases from inception to resolution.
• Review documents, draft bespoke coverage advice and legal opinions.
• Support all stages of litigation, including investigations, research, and preparation of instructions for counsel and experts.
• Analyse coverage, liability, quantum and strategy issues.
• Draft court applications, negotiate settlements and engage in ADR processes.
• Attend client meetings, strategy sessions and conferences, taking notes and following up on actions.
• Ensure compliance with SRA standards and regulations.

Required profile

• Legal qualification: Solicitor or FILEX.
• Experience handling defendant property insurance claims.
• Strong understanding of insurance coverage disputes, liability and causation.
• Ability to work with challenging customers and insurer clients.

Required skills

• Proficiency with case management systems.
