Assistant Manager - Accounts

About the role

Our client, a leading chartered accountancy firm in Central London, is seeking an ACA or ACCA qualified professional to join as an Assistant Manager. This client‑facing position offers the chance to manage a diverse portfolio of high‑profile organisations across health & beauty, tech, media, entertainment and private wealth sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of sole traders, limited companies and partnerships.
• Review and finalise statutory accounts prepared by junior staff.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and corporate tax returns.
• Provide day‑to‑day advisory support to clients.
• Lead ad‑hoc projects and initiatives.
• Supervise, mentor and delegate work to junior members of the accounts team.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification with at least 12 months post‑qualification experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Current role as Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Senior Accountant or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to work client‑facing and drive business development.

Required skills

• FRS 102 year‑end accounts preparation and review.
• VAT return preparation and compliance.
• Corporate tax return preparation.
• Statutory accounts compilation for various entity types.
