Assistant Manager – External Auditor

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established accountancy practice to hire an Assistant Manager – External Auditor. The role offers exposure to a diverse client portfolio and a supportive, collaborative environment where you can develop your audit expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with and lead statutory audits from planning through to completion.
• Prepare audit files in line with professional and regulatory standards.
• Perform audit testing, risk assessments and control evaluations.
• Draft audit reports, management letters and clear audit documentation.
• Liaise directly with clients in a professional and confident manner.
• Support junior team members during fieldwork and on‑site audits.
• Ensure deadlines are met while maintaining high‑quality work.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the audit team and processes.

Required profile

• Experience in external audit within a UK accountancy practice.
• ACA or ACCA qualification, or currently studying towards one.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing standards.
• Confidence communicating with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborative, approachable and professional working style.
• Attention to detail and proactive mindset.
