Assistant Manager – Hospitality & Retail

About the role

One Garden Brighton is looking for an experienced, customer‑focused Assistant Manager to support the day‑to‑day delivery of its retail and hospitality operations. This hands‑on leadership position works in a high‑footfall visitor destination, reporting to the Retail and Hospitality Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Drive hospitality sales through confident selling and excellent customer engagement.
• Maintain visual merchandising, product presentation and stock control.
• Support seasonal ranges, pop‑ups and new product launches.
• Deputise for the Manager, overseeing daily front‑of‑house and retail operations.
• Open and close the venue on a rota basis and ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and licensing requirements.
• Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally.
• Supervise, motivate and support retail and hospitality team members, leading briefings and allocating duties.
• Support EPOS use, cash handling, reporting and event delivery.

Required profile

• Motivated professional with supervisory or assistant‑management experience in hospitality or retail.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to lead a front‑of‑house team.
• Ability to work flexibly, including opening and closing shifts.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of service, safety and compliance.
