Assistant Manager – Major Projects Advisory

About the role

KPMG’s Major Projects Advisory team supports leading organisations in delivering large‑scale infrastructure and construction programmes. As an Assistant Manager you will join a specialist group based in London, Manchester or Birmingham, working closely with senior stakeholders to address complex project challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial and cost‑management advice to public and private sector clients on major infrastructure projects.
• Analyse project data to identify causal factors and develop actionable recommendations.
• Support senior executives, boards and Senior Responsible Owners with clear, evidence‑based insights.
• Manage the monthly delivery rhythm, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across sectors such as transport, utilities, defence, health and education.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cost and commercial management, advisory or assurance on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Background in commercial management, quantity surveying, project controls, or civil/mechanical/electrical engineering.
• Client‑facing experience, comfortable working with senior stakeholders in politically sensitive environments.
• Strong analytical ability to assess new situations and data quickly.
• Demonstrated capability to manage recurring project activities and meet tight deadlines.
