Assistant Manager – Retail (Dumfries)

About the role

Farmfoods is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join its Dumfries shop. This full‑time, permanent position works a variety of shifts across five days a week, including at least one weekend day, and offers a competitive salary package.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Shop Manager in running an efficient store and delivering excellent customer service.
• Coach, mentor and provide feedback to retail assistants, fostering team development.
• Take charge of store operations in the manager’s absence, ensuring safety, cleanliness and timely deliveries.
• Control operational costs such as shrinkage, waste and payroll.
• Assist with recruitment, induction and training of new team members.

Required profile

• Friendly, positive and hard‑working attitude.
• Strong people skills and ability to build relationships with colleagues and customers.
• Reliability and trustworthiness as a key member of a small team.
• Previous experience in a managerial, team‑lead or supervisory role.
• Willingness to undergo a Basic DBS or Disclosure Scotland check.
