Assistant Manager – Retail

About the role

Farmfoods is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join its Clydebank store. This permanent, full‑time role involves supporting the Shop Manager in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring smooth daily operations across a 43‑hour week.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Shop Manager in running an efficient store and maintaining high standards of customer service.
• Coach, mentor and provide feedback to retail assistants, fostering their development.
• Take charge of the shop in the manager’s absence, overseeing deliveries, shop routines, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
• Control operational costs, including shrinkage, waste and payroll.
• Support recruitment, induction and training of new team members.

Required profile

• Friendly, positive and hard‑working attitude.
• Strong people skills with the ability to build relationships within a small team.
• Trustworthy, reliable and able to perform consistently.
• Previous experience in a managerial, team‑lead or supervisory role.
• Willingness to undergo a Basic DBS or Disclosure Scotland check.
