Assistant Merchandiser

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Merchandiser to join a well‑known fashion brand based in the North West. This position offers the chance to develop your merchandising career in a fast‑paced, commercially driven environment, working closely with the Merchandiser and Buying teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Merchandiser in planning and trading product ranges to meet sales, profit and stock targets.
• Produce and analyse weekly trading reports, highlighting risks and opportunities.
• Monitor sales performance, stock levels and intake to ensure optimal product availability.
• Manage purchase orders, deliveries and critical supplier pathways.
• Re‑forecast sales, stock and intake based on current performance.
• Collaborate with Buying to build balanced, commercially successful ranges.
• Recommend markdowns, promotions and stock‑management actions.
• Liaise with suppliers, warehouses and internal teams to resolve stock and delivery issues.
• Support seasonal planning, budgeting and range reviews.
• Provide guidance to Merchandise Assistants where needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Assistant Merchandiser in fashion retail.
• Strong commercial awareness and a genuine passion for fashion.
• Highly analytical with excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise workload and thrive in a fast‑moving retail environment.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive, organised and solutions‑focused, with confidence to challenge when appropriate.
• Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and data‑analysis functions.
