Assistant Project Manager – Fixed-Term (12 months)

About the role

Equans is seeking an Assistant Project Manager on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to support the delivery of multiple construction and facilities‑management projects across the Midlands and North West England. The role is full‑time (37.5 h/week) and offers a blend of home‑working and travel to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers in delivering projects ranging from £20k to £2m.
• Manage day‑to‑day administration, coordination and documentation for assigned works.
• Define client briefs, develop Employer Requirements and produce clear Activity Schedules.
• Liaise with consultants, designers and subcontractors to scope and document work.
• Support commercial teams in tender preparation and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
• Embed EQUANS SHEQ practices, conduct safety visits and record observations.
• Maintain project programmes, monitor slippage, risks and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with the PMO to report on caseloads and update project management systems.
• Facilitate smooth handover of new assets and support post‑implementation use.

Required profile

• Previous project management experience, ideally within the facilities‑management sector.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
• Willingness to travel to project sites in the Midlands and North West.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CDM regulations.
• Familiarity with EQUANS SHEQ practices.
