Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Our client, an established contractor delivering projects across prime London locations, is seeking a driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor. You will gain end‑to‑end exposure to subcontract packages, working both in the office and on active sites.

Key responsibilities

• Procure subcontract packages and compile comprehensive tender documents in collaboration with the site team.
• Reconcile and analyse subcontractor quotations to produce accurate commercial comparisons.
• Identify risks and opportunities during tender analysis.
• Prepare final subcontract documents and commercial agreements.
• Remeasure subcontractor accounts and issue timely payment notices.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly external valuations, providing client‑facing exposure.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in a junior, trainee or assistant commercial role within construction.
• Basic understanding of subcontract procurement and on‑site measurement of drawings/works.
• Strong numerical ability to analyse financial data, quotes and spreadsheets.
• Confident communication with site managers, subcontractors and clients.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and willingness to learn new construction software.
