Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Our client, a leading structural steel contractor, is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of large‑scale steelwork and construction projects across the UK. Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, you will gain exposure to the full commercial lifecycle from tender to final account.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with cost control and commercial delivery of major structural steel and construction projects.
• Support the preparation of valuations, variations and payment applications.
• Help review contracts to ensure commercial compliance.
• Liaise with project teams, clients and subcontractors on commercial matters.
• Prepare cost reports, forecasts and other commercial documentation.
• Support procurement activities and subcontractor administration.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a construction, commercial or quantity surveying role, or a relevant qualification.
• Understanding of commercial processes and cost control within the construction industry.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Numerical and analytical aptitude.
