Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the role

A busy and growing business based in Burnley is looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Assistant QS) to support its expanding workload. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, supporting the commercial side of the business and helping manage the increased volume of work.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting the commercial management of projects
• Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Managing call‑offs and subcontractor accounts
• Preparing and submitting invoices
• Assisting with valuations and commercial reporting
• Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers
• Supporting the wider commercial team with day‑to‑day QS duties
• Helping ensure projects are commercially controlled and delivered profitably

Required profile

• Around 3 years’ experience in a QS or Assistant QS position
• Experience within civils, construction or a related sector
• Street lighting experience is desirable but not essential
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Comfortable dealing with subcontractors and invoices
• Keen to develop and progress within the role
• Practical, hardworking and willing to learn
