Assistant Residential Children Worker (Gatekeepers Lodge)

About the role
We are looking for an Assistant Residential Children Worker to join our team at Gatekeepers Lodge in Derbyshire. The role primarily involves night‑time care for young people with complex emotional and social needs, providing a safe, therapeutic and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver responsive, trauma‑informed care during night shifts (7 pm‑7 am) and occasional weekend or bank‑holiday periods.
- Ensure the safety, wellbeing and holistic care of children, acting in a parental capacity while working closely with families and external partners.
- Participate in team meetings, reflective practice sessions and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with a Residential Children Worker who provides on‑site support as needed.
Required profile
- Commitment to relationship‑focused, psychologically informed practice.
- Understanding of the Children Act, Quality Care Standards and Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and respond to emerging situations.
- Hold or be working towards a Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma (or equivalent NVQ 3) and be prepared to complete any additional required training within two years.

- Hourly rates ranging from £13.47‑£13.71 (day) to £17.96‑£18.28 (night) and £26.94‑£27.42 on bank holidays.
- Overnight shift pattern with weekend and bank‑holiday work.
- Support from a senior Residential Children Worker and access to reflective practice sessions.
