Assistant Service Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Service Manager to support a leading care specialist in Canterbury. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality support to individuals with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour, while driving team performance and service excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Motivate and inspire staff through training, coaching and leading by example.
• Oversee day‑to‑day service operations, including rostering, support plans and staff deployment.
• Manage budgets and ensure compliance with CQC regulations.
• Collaborate with the Service Leadership Team to maintain smooth service delivery.
• Provide person‑centred support and act as a role model for active, fulfilling lives for service users.

Required profile

• Empathetic, compassionate and patient with a strong commitment to person‑centred care.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
• Proven leadership and team‑management experience in a health or social‑care setting.
• Flexible and able to work varied shift patterns, including early mornings, evenings, sleep‑ins and night shifts.

Required skills

• Good IT skills for basic computer use and record‑keeping.
