Assistant Signal & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Signal & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer to support the delivery of safe, reliable and efficient railway asset performance. Working on a live rail environment, you will lead technicians, ensure compliance and provide technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support signalling and telecoms technicians to achieve performance targets.
• Monitor asset reliability, safety and maintenance delivery.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct inspections and investigate faults.
• Manage safety compliance, assurance and non‑conformance processes.
• Review and approve method statements and work plans.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and systems.
• Undertake staff surveillance and quality/asset checks.

Required profile

• Strong signalling/telecoms engineering experience in rail.
• Knowledge of maintenance processes, standards and safety compliance.
• Experience working in operational railway environments.
• Ability to manage incidents, failures and technical investigations.
• IRSE licence (signalling) and HNC/HND or equivalent qualification.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
