Assistant Site Manager

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Site Manager to support the delivery and installation of major Automated Storage Systems across projects in Milton Keynes and Northampton. The role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in industrial and warehouse construction, especially where automation, structural steelwork, and conveyor systems are involved.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily site operations for automated racking and warehouse automation installations, ensuring compliance with schedules, quality, and H&S standards.
• Coordinate activities between civil contractors, MEP teams, automation specialists, equipment suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Manage installation of racking structures in collaboration with materials‑handling providers, meeting design tolerances and performance requirements.
• Support integration of conveyors, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), control systems, and related warehouse technologies.
• Ensure works follow engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
• Liaise with the principal contractor, system integrator, and project stakeholders to monitor progress and resolve interface issues.
• Promote and enforce site health & safety procedures, including toolbox talks, inductions, and incident reporting.
• Maintain accurate project records, progress reports, inspection documentation, and safety logs.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and coordinate resolution of site‑related issues, escalating critical risks as needed.
• Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover activities alongside automation engineers and equipment manufacturers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site supervision or management on industrial, logistics, manufacturing, or warehouse construction projects.
• Previous involvement with AS/RS, automated warehouse systems, or racking installation.
• Ability to coordinate multiple disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, automation) on complex projects.
