Assistant Underwriter

About the role

Pen Underwriting is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join its Household and Personal Lines team in Liphook. Working alongside experienced underwriters, you will gain exposure to a broad range of underwriting activities while developing technical expertise in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support underwriting of new business, renewals, mid‑term adjustments and cancellations.
• Review risks, prepare documentation and assist underwriting decisions in line with guidelines.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with brokers.
• Assist with portfolio monitoring, reporting and data analysis to drive business performance.
• Identify trends, anomalies and emerging risks, escalating where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with underwriting and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives and broader underwriting projects.
