Associate Buyer

About the role

We are looking for an Associate Buyer to join National Gas’s West Region Supply Chain team, based in Bristol or Warwick. You will support procurement activities across multiple projects, working closely with senior buyers, supply chain leads and project stakeholders to deliver critical services for the gas network.

Key responsibilities

• Support regional supply chain and procurement activities across several projects.
• Collaborate with project teams to understand forecasted demand and upcoming requirements.
• Develop and manage sourcing strategies and tender processes, including RFQs and ITTs.
• Build and run tenders using SAP Ariba or similar systems.
• Create strategic documentation such as gate packs and sourcing approaches.
• Evaluate supplier proposals, perform commercial benchmarking and analysis.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, performance and value delivery.
• Assist with contract management, mobilisation activities and compliance with internal policies and industry standards.

Required profile

• Motivated procurement professional comfortable in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and commercial judgement.
• Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders and navigate ambiguity.
• Positive, adaptable attitude with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Experience in utilities, infrastructure, engineering or construction sectors is a plus.
• Familiarity with regulated environments and contract frameworks such as NEC, FIDIC or JCT is advantageous.
