Associate / Director – Senior Accounting Role

About the role

TC Group, a fast‑growing top‑20 UK accountancy firm, is seeking an experienced Associate/Director to lead a substantial portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and corporate clients. This senior position combines technical accounting expertise with leadership responsibilities to drive client growth and firm profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a significant portfolio of SME and owner‑managed clients as the primary relationship partner.
• Deliver proactive accounting, tax and business advisory services that add measurable value.
• Identify and develop opportunities to improve client financial performance and expand service offerings.
• Ensure timely, on‑budget delivery of all client work to the highest professional standards.
• Generate new business through networking, referrals and existing client relationships.
• Prepare proposals, fee quotations and support cross‑selling initiatives across the firm.
• Lead, mentor and develop managers and senior team members, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Oversee portfolio profitability, billing performance, recovery and debtor management.
• Review complex accounts, tax computations and advisory projects, providing technical guidance.
• Maintain compliance with UK accounting standards, tax legislation and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in UK public practice.
• Extensive experience managing SME and owner‑managed business portfolios.
• Proven track record in business development and client retention.
• Strong leadership and people‑development capabilities.
