About the role
Novartis is seeking an Associate Director of Statistical Programming to lead a high‑performing community of programmers. Based in London with remote flexibility, you will shape statistical programming strategy, drive innovation, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality insights for drug development.
Key responsibilities
- Lead statistical programming activities for large or complex global projects spanning Phase I‑IV clinical studies.
- Coordinate internal and external programming resources, making strategic decisions at project or disease‑area level.
- Develop programming strategies and scientific documentation in partnership with biostatisticians.
- Allocate resources within the therapeutic area community and promote sharing across groups.
- Act as functional manager, providing supervision and expertise to local and global associates.
- Maintain effective relationships with cross‑functional teams, summarising status, timelines, scope, and resource planning.
- Represent the statistical programming team at project, submission, and leadership meetings.
- Drive standardisation across studies, adopting R packages (Tidyverse), R Shiny applications, AI‑enabled tools, and Git‑based version control.
Required profile
- Proven leadership experience in statistical programming within a pharmaceutical or clinical research environment.
- Ability to manage and mentor a team of programmers across multiple projects.
- Strong communication skills to interact with biostatistics, data management, and other cross‑functional partners.
- Track record of delivering high‑quality, validated programming components on schedule.
