Associate Lecturer – Professional Cookery (Further Education)

About the role

University College Birmingham is seeking an Associate Lecturer to join its College of Food (Further Education). You will bring current industry practice into the teaching kitchen, inspiring learners through hands‑on demonstration and modelling professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical sessions covering kitchen, pastry and larder skills.
• Provide pastoral support to diverse student cohorts, helping build confidence, resilience and professional identity.
• Model industry standards and current best practices in the teaching environment.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of the College of Food programmes.

Required profile

• Significant experience across culinary sectors with strong practical expertise.
• Passion for sharing knowledge and motivating learners through hands‑on demonstration.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a proactive teaching team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and the PREVENT agenda in further education.
