Associate Planner / Associate Director – Bristol

About the role

Join a leading multidisciplinary planning consultancy in the South West, working on a diverse portfolio of strategic and high‑profile residential planning projects. As an Associate Planner or Associate Director you will help shape the development potential of land and buildings while contributing to the growth of the regional team.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on development potential and land opportunities.
• Prepare, submit and manage planning applications and appeals.
• Provide planning policy advice and conduct strategic research.
• Draft representations for Local Plan consultations and examinations.
• Lead projects from initial strategy through to securing planning permission and negotiating conditions.
• Collaborate with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support business development and nurture long‑term client relationships.
• Contribute thought‑leadership through industry articles and publications.

Required profile

• Relevant planning qualification and Chartered membership of the RTPI.
• Proven planning experience within the South West region.
• Comprehensive understanding of the UK planning system and development process.
• Excellent report‑writing and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Commercially minded, proactive and able to mentor junior staff.
