Associate Postgraduate Dean for DCP Workforce Development

About the role

This position offers an enthusiastic and knowledgeable educator the chance to join the Dental Senior Management Team in the South West as the Associate Postgraduate Dean for Dental Care Professionals (DCP) Workforce Development. The role is part‑time (1 PA per week) and focuses on upskilling DCPs, supporting strategic workforce recruitment and retention, and contributing to national dental reform.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and delivering programmes and projects that support NHS England’s mandate and the multi‑professional dental workforce.
• Design and implement upskilling opportunities for Dental Care Professionals across the South West.
• Promote clinical skills training and simulation, emphasizing teamwork and human factors.
• Collaborate with providers to capture local innovation and share best practice.
• Represent the Directorate at local and national meetings.
• Deputise for senior management team members as required.

Required profile

• Current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a dentist.
• Demonstrable experience in postgraduate dental education and programme management.
• Proven leadership ability and experience acting as an advocate and role model.
• Experience with educational support, quality processes and strategic workforce planning.
