Associate Solicitor - Private Client

About the role

An established regional law firm is seeking an Associate Solicitor to join its highly regarded private client team. The role involves working closely with senior specialists on complex tax, trusts and estate planning matters for high‑net‑worth individuals and families.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a personal caseload covering wills, lasting powers of attorney, probate and estate administration.
• Provide advice on trust structures, succession planning, inheritance tax and capital gains tax.
• Draft a range of trust and estate planning documentation.
• Support and mentor junior team members.
• Contribute to business development and networking initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor with experience in private client work, especially wills, trusts, probate and estate planning.
• Approximately 5 years post‑qualification experience preferred, though slightly less experience will be considered.
• Strong understanding of inheritance tax, capital gains tax, income tax and stamp duties.
• STEP qualification advantageous; candidates working towards it are welcome.

Required skills

• Excellent drafting ability for legal documents.
• Strong technical knowledge of trust law and tax implications.
• Commercial approach to problem solving.
