Attendance Officer – Secondary School (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Attendance Officer to join a welcoming secondary school in Hillingdon from September 2026. The role is full‑time and focuses on improving student attendance and punctuality through proactive monitoring and support.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school and maintain accurate records.
• Investigate unexplained absences, follow up with families and update attendance registers.
• Identify attendance trends, persistent absence and students who need additional support.
• Contact parents/carers to discuss concerns and collaborate on improvement plans.
• Work closely with pastoral staff, safeguarding teams and external agencies as required.
• Support attendance meetings, intervention plans and reintegration programmes.
• Produce regular attendance reports for senior leaders and other stakeholders.
• Assist with wider pastoral and administrative duties while adhering to safeguarding, confidentiality and GDPR requirements.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a secondary school setting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Passion for supporting young people and improving educational outcomes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with school MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.
