Attendance, Progress & Academic Skills Coach

About the role

We are seeking an Attendance, Progress & Academic Skills Coach to support disadvantaged 16‑19‑year‑old learners at Blackburn College. The role focuses on removing barriers to academic progress and fostering high engagement with the study programme.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor students to improve attendance, progress and academic skills, particularly in English and Maths.
• Collaborate closely with tutors, learning support and student engagement teams.
• Identify and address individual barriers to learning, providing tailored support packages.
• Monitor student attendance and progress data and intervene when needed.
• Promote a positive attitude to learning and high engagement across the college.

Required profile

• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Experience working with young people aged 16‑19, or a strong aspiration to do so.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities.
• Ability to build appropriate relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Proven teamwork experience.
