Audit & Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an Audit & Accounts Assistant to split time equally between audit and accounts work for a well‑established chartered accountant firm in Fareham. You will support Portfolio Managers with a busy client base and work alongside the Audit Manager, gaining real audit exposure while developing your accounts skills.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end accounts for limited companies, LLPs, sole traders and partnerships.
• Process client data using Xero, Dext, Sage and QuickBooks.
• Prepare corporation tax and personal tax returns under supervision.
• Work through file review points and assemble accounts packs.
• Liaise with clients to collect information for accounts and audits.
• Support statutory audits, including testing and fieldwork.
• Carry out ad‑hoc tasks throughout the year such as P11Ds and ATED filings.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about gaining a broad training experience in both accounts and audit.
• Studying accounting or a related discipline, or looking to develop into a practice accountant.
• Comfortable working with a varied client base and supporting senior team members.
