Audit & Accounts Assistant

About the role

We are supporting a growing accountancy firm in Chester that seeks an Audit & Accounts Assistant. This permanent, full‑time position offers hybrid working and is ideal for an early‑career professional who wants hands‑on experience in both audit and accounts while progressing toward ACA or ACCA qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing statutory accounts for a diverse client base.
• Support audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Prepare working papers and audit documentation.
• Assist with basic tax computations and returns.
• Liaise with clients to gather information and resolve queries.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Collaborate closely with seniors and managers to develop technical skills.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice (audit, accounts or mixed role).
• Studying towards ACA / ACCA (or planning to start).
• Good understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Effective communication and a positive, team‑focused attitude.
• Organised, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks.
