Audit Senior / Semi-Senior – Accountancy Practice

About the role

Join a growing accountancy practice in Hitchin as an Audit Senior / Semi‑Senior. You will work on a varied portfolio, spending most of your time on audit engagements while also handling accounts work for a range of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and complete audits from the planning stage through to finalisation.
• Lead audit assignments with minimal supervision, ensuring timely delivery and budget compliance.
• Supervise fieldwork and support junior team members.
• Prepare statutory accounts for audit‑exempt entities, partnerships and LLPs.
• Prepare draft corporation tax computations.
• Draft management recommendations after audit completion.
• Maintain client relationships and deliver a high level of professional service.
• Work across sectors such as construction, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, travel, pharmaceutical, pensions and financial services.

Required profile

• Previous experience managing audits from planning through to completion.
• Currently part‑qualified (ACA or ACCA) or qualified by experience.
• Experience in a mid‑sized accountancy practice is highly desirable.
• Strong technical knowledge of audit and accounts preparation.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Confident communicator with strong client relationship skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
