Auditor – Commercial & Private Banking

About the role

Metro Bank is seeking an Auditor to join its Commercial & Private Banking team. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality audits across Block Discounting, Receivables and Asset Finance portfolios, ensuring compliance and managing risk while supporting the bank’s commitment to authentic customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑lend and in‑life Block Discounting and Receivables audits, producing timely reports in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform Sub‑Hire audits, verifying asset ownership, utilisation, customer eligibility and compliance with facility terms.
• Inspect, reconcile and validate assets across HP, Lease, Loan and Sub‑Hire portfolios, expanding testing where risk indicators arise.
• Identify and report covenant breaches, control weaknesses, fraud indicators and operational risks; advise customers on corrective actions.
• Liaise with Wholesale Relationship Managers and Business Development Directors to plan, scope and prioritise audit activities.
• Maintain diary, travel and workload to meet audit deadlines and respond to ad‑hoc requests.
• Produce clear, structured audit reports with findings, root causes, risk ratings and recommended actions.
• Maintain comprehensive audit files and evidence trails for internal and regulatory review.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability and professional judgement to assess risk indicators.
• Experience in audit delivery, portfolio assurance and risk identification within a banking or financial services environment.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, capable of building constructive relationships while maintaining independence.
• Effective organisational skills to manage multiple audits, travel and reporting timelines.
